We understand that many families arrive at Homebrook Woods after a difficult journey, and we know how important it is to find a setting where your child feels genuinely safe, understood and able to flourish. From your very first enquiry, we'll take time to listen, answer your questions and work alongside you to decide whether Homebrook Woods is the right provision for your child. We believe the strongest outcomes are achieved when families and school work together. Through open communication, shared strategies and genuine partnership, we aim to provide consistency that helps children feel secure, confident and successful both at home and in school.

We share the strategies we use at school so families can use consistent approaches at home, and we welcome your knowledge of your child because nobody knows them better than you do.
Preparing Your Child
Starting at a new school can feel daunting — for children and families alike. Before your child joins us, we'll take time to understand what helps them feel safe and settled. We'll review all available information, meet with you as a family, and work together to plan a starting process that feels manageable and positive for your child. We'll go at your child's pace.

Open, regular communication with families is something we take seriously. We aim to be accessible, responsive and honest. We'll update you on how your child is getting on, share good news as well as raising concerns early, and always invite your input into planning.
Questions You May Be Asking...
We don't assume Homebrook Woods is right for every child — and we will always be honest with you about whether we feel we can meet your child's needs. What we do know is that we are a calm, small, specialist setting with a therapeutic approach designed around children with Autism Spectrum Condition and Speech, Language and Communication Needs. The best way to find out is to talk to us and, if possible, come and visit.
Absolutely — and we warmly encourage it. There is no obligation attached to a visit. Come and see the setting, meet the team and ask as many questions as you like. Some families also bring their child for an informal visit before any decision is made. Just get in touch and we'll arrange a time that works for you.
Yes. We ask families to share any available reports, EHCPs or other relevant information before our first meeting. This means we can have a much more informed and helpful conversation — and it saves you having to explain everything from scratch. We treat all information with the utmost confidentiality.
Very carefully and without pressure. We know that for many children who come to us, school has been a source of real anxiety. We work at the child's pace entirely — sometimes starting with very short, informal visits and building gradually. We never rush, and we never use attendance as something to feel guilty about. Our starting point is always: what does this child need to feel safe?
You'll hear from us within two working days. We'll have an initial conversation — by phone or video call — to hear about your child and answer any questions you have. From there, we can arrange a visit and, if it feels right for everyone, begin the process of exploring a placement. There is never any pressure and no obligation at any stage.
As a genuine partner. You know your child better than anyone, and we believe that the best outcomes happen when families and school work together. We'll keep you informed — the good days and the harder ones — share the strategies we use so you can use them at home too, and always welcome your input into planning and reviews. You will never feel kept at arm's length.
